How safe is climbing?

According to YOSAR (Yosemite search and rescue) there are 100 accidents a year in Yosemite. The NPS researched climbing accidents from 1970 to 1990 and found that 51 climbers died from traumatic injuries and 12 more would have died if not for the quick response of YOSAR.
